Meet Lucretia Gilbert

Visionary philanthropy leader who delivers game-changing performance and impact.

LUCRETIA GILBERT is a seasoned development professional and innovative leader.  She serves as the Principal & Founder of The Philanthropy Advantage, a high impact philanthropy consulting firm that provides strategy and implementation support for nonprofits, private foundations, individuals and corporations. Previously, Lucretia was the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide.  As CPO, Lucretia was responsible for strategy, management, and leadership of a highly dynamic development shop.  She has built a track record of strong teambuilding, fostering a culture of philanthropy, entrepreneurial thinking, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” level of commitment.

Under Lucretia’s 13-year leadership tenure at BCRF, the development and events department raised more than $400 million while expanding the overall reach and capacity of the organization.  Lucretia concurrently served as the Executive Director for The Pink Agenda (TPA), a separate 501(c)(3).  She orchestrated strategic alliances between TPA and BCRF to engage the next generation of philanthropists, as well as Fab-U-Wish, the signature program of Giuliana Rancic, a breast cancer survivor, E! News anchor, and television personality.

Before joining BCRF and TPA, Lucretia was Associate Director of Major Gifts at Gilda's Club Worldwide, and Director of Special Events at the ALS Association Greater New York Chapter.

Lucretia is a graduate of the Executive Education Exponential Fundraising Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from NYU’s Wagner School.  She previously served on the Board of Directors for the New York Junior League and chaired its Board Development Committee.  She remains an active member of Women in Development (WID) and the New York City Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
